Sophie Craig
MEMBER OF THE STUDENT RUN GENIUS BAR
Hello, my name is Sophie Craig and I am currently enrolled as a sophomore at Burlington High School. For the first semester of my 10th grade experience, I have chosen to step out of my comfort zone, and explore the world of technology in Help Desk. I have always been a person who loves social media, and is always interested in the background of it and it's creation.
Semester 1 of 2019-2020 school year.
Reflection 1 |
So far, this year has been filled with fun activities and technology that is both easy to use and educational. I am super happy in here and I hope to learn as much later as I am now. The drones and robots have been my favorite so far. They are fun to fly/drive, and programming them is incredible. The process of coding them is surprisingly simple, and even fun to participate in. If I am able to participate in these activities in the future I will be more than happy to!

Reflection 2
In the recent weeks, we have been learning more and more about coding and technology. We began a new program where we could join a section that we were interested in, mine was architecture, and we could code and scale. I made a house with a partner, and now we are working on 3D printing it. The more the weeks go on, the more knowledge I entail, and the more tech savvy I become. Mr. Wong said that we will be focusing on the drones a little bit more in the next few weeks, which builds my excitement and makes me look forward to this class for the next few weeks. I cannot wait to see what the next few weeks have in store for me and my intelligence!
Reflection 3
This past week, we have been doing AWS educate. AWS educate is a program in which we can code a chat bot, to help us with simple everyday tasks such as ordering flowers and ordering an Uber. I am programming my device to order groceries. It is going pretty well so far, and it seems to be getting better. Before we had started this, we had participated in STEM week. I took over the architecture portion of the class, and taught others how to build and design their very own living space. We even went as far as 3D printing the house to go further into depth with the program. My personal favorite part of these past few weeks was STEM week, however I enjoyed everything we've done in this class so far.

Reflection 4
In the recent weeks, we have been exploring our personal interests, to start thinking about our ILE. My ILE is within a group of 3 other classmates, and we are creating a house in Sweet Home 3D, and importing it in Unity, creating a virtual experience. This project is extremely interesting and fun to me, considering I love architecture. Though I tend to get motion sickness while using VR, it is enjoyable for me to be in the process of making this creation, and learning more about it. After winter break, I presume we will go further into depth about the Unity portion, for I was mostly immersed in the Sweet Home 3D. Another thing that happened that grasped my attention was when Mrs.Franz came in to tell us about 3D metal printing. This opened up mind to things I didn't even know could happen. It is truly extraordinary what she does for work, and I would love to learn more about it.
